Healthcare has become one of India's largest sectors both in terms of revenue and employment.

Institute of Medicine released its' FUTURE OF NURSING REPORT' which suggests the nursing profession to increase the number of qualified nurses to 80% of the workforce by 2020. 3 of 4 key messages from this report relates to:
  • Nurses should practice to the full extent of their education and training.
  • Nurses should achieve higher levels of education and training through an improved education system that promotes seamless academic progression.
  • Nurses should be full partners with physicians and other healthcare professionals in redesigning healthcare.

According to the latest WHO data published in 2018, total life expectancy in India is increased to 68.8. From a demand perspective, nursing profession is one of the fastest growing profession. According to the norms of WHO, there should be a minimum of 1 doctor and 2.5 nurses available per 1000 population. However, India has only O.7 doctors and 1.7 nurses available per 1000 population. According to the FICCl's Nursing Reforms report published in August 2016, India needs an additional 2.4 million nurses to meet the growing demand. There is an urgent need for nursing transformation at national and state level at both the government and private sectors.

Seeing the demand, the Institute has taken the responsibility of running courses namely

3-years GNM course,
4-years B.Sc. Nursing course
